Breach alerts

Get a push alert when a company behind one of your apps is breached or named in a privacy class action — with a clear “what happened” and “what you can do next.” Filter to your apps to cut the noise, or browse everything for full awareness.

Understand permissions

Review what location, camera, microphone, contacts, and tracking access really mean, in language anyone can understand. Build a habit of checking in on the apps you use most, and run the pre-install checklist before you download something new.

Privacy score

Run a privacy audit and get a score plus specific, doable recommendations. Track your progress with weekly reports and an annual privacy recap.

AI privacy coach

Ask anything. The built-in AI privacy coach answers your privacy questions with practical, plain-English guidance — included with Clearly Premium. Your questions go straight to Clearly’s own servers, never a third-party app builder.

Not just breaches

Breach alerts are half the picture. Most of what happens to your data has nothing to do with a hack — it’s the permission you granted without reading it. Clearly explains what location, camera, microphone, contacts, and tracking access really mean for the apps already on your phone, in language anyone can understand.

Before you install something new, run the pre-install checklist. After it’s on your phone, your privacy score turns what you’ve granted into a number and a short list of doable recommendations — not a wall of settings to figure out alone.

WHY I BUILT CLEARLY

“I started building Clearly because I wanted to know how private my own phone really was — which apps were using my data, and how they were using it. There was no calm, honest answer, so I made one.”

— Adam Dreyfuss, developer of Clearly

What Clearly can’t see

  • can’t scan your device
  • can’t read your iOS settings
  • can’t see your app reviews — they stay on your phone
  • can’t keep your data — delete everything, anytime

We never sell your data. No ads. Ever.

Common questions

Is Clearly free?

Yes. Clearly is a free download. Clearly Premium unlocks full breach monitoring and the AI privacy coach for $4.99/month or $49.99/year, with a 3-day free trial.

What is the AI privacy coach?

A built-in chat, included with Clearly Premium, that answers your privacy questions with practical, plain-English guidance — what a permission actually means, what to do about a breach, how to think about a new app before you install it. Your questions go straight to Clearly’s own servers, never to a third-party app builder.

Where does breach data come from?

The Have I Been Pwned breach catalog and publicly filed privacy class actions. Clearly refreshes this record on our servers every 6 hours.

Does Clearly scan my phone?

No. Clearly can’t and doesn’t scan your device or read your iOS settings. Everything is based on the apps you choose to track. Turn on an optional feature — an account, breach monitoring, push alerts — and only what that feature needs is sent to our servers. Want to understand what a permission like location or contacts actually grants? Read our guide to iPhone permissions, explained.

Was I affected by a breach listed here?

Not necessarily. A company appearing in the public record means that company was breached — it doesn’t confirm that your specific data was included. Check the data classes exposed and whether you had an account with that service around the breach date.

What happens when a new breach appears?

If it names a company behind an app you’re tracking, you get a push alert explaining what happened in plain English, plus clear steps to take next.

How do I delete my data?

Open Settings in the app and choose delete account. That permanently removes your account and all associated server data. Reviews and notes stored only on your device are already private to you.

The record updates every day. Be the first to know when it names an app you use.
